Presidential Initiatives
Gifts to the Presidential Initiatives Annual Fund help President Rooney grow, develop, and build on the great initiatives that are making a positive impact on our students, faculty and staff, and campus community.
One of the many impactful programs President Rooney has supported with this fund is the Presidential Research Fellows program. This program allows undergraduate students the opportunity to engage in research with faculty and staff mentors leading to academic and workforce skill development such as communication, critical thinking, and teamwork.
Past projects from this program include:
- 2018 and 2019: Rochester Monroe Anti-Poverty Initiative
- 2019: The Power of Douglass in Rochester
- 2020: Enriching Fisher: Examination of Intersection of Experience-Based Learning and Career Readiness
- 2021: Cardinal Grant Writing Experience
- 2022: Supported 37 Student Research Opportunities
At the conclusion of the program, President and Mrs. Rooney host a celebratory reception to hear more about the research students completed along with their mentors to celebrate the scholarly work happening at Fisher.

What an incredible success! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR PARTICIPATION AND SUPPORT!
This just in! Keith Ashby ‘70 has issued a new challenge to “extend the night with more light” rallying all Cardinals to come together to finish strong! If we can get 150 more donors tonight to reach our goal of 1,000 donors, he will give $2,000 toward Area of Greatest Need and School of Arts and Sciences. Let’s do this!

Thank you to the Leonard Family Foundation and Professor Tyson for your special matches!
